Why I Stopped Chasing Protocols and Started Chasing Stability (And What I Now Know as a Holistic Fertility Coach)
For a long time, I truly believed the answer was one more magic fix, a new supplement, a different protocol, some best-kept secret that was going to finally work. When I saw someone struggling with the same challenges finally have a breakthrough, my first thought was: what are they not telling me?
That was my mindset. There must be another supplement. Another plan. Another thing I haven’t tried yet.
And honestly? That’s exactly what the wellness industry wants you to think. You’re told that if something isn’t working, it’s because you haven’t found the right thing yet or you haven’t tried hard enough.
But here’s what I slowly realized, both in my own body and in the women I support through my holistic fertility coaching program: nothing actually changed until I stopped asking “What should I do next?” and started asking “What does my body need to feel stable first?”
This Is Usually Where Women Find Me
They’re eating well. They’ve cleaned up their products. They’ve tried hormone support, detoxes, supplements, sometimes with multiple practitioners. And yet, their body still feels unpredictable.
Cycles might be irregular or heavier than they should be. Energy crashes appear out of nowhere. Symptoms shift just enough to keep hope alive, but never fully resolve.
And often, they’ve been told the most frustrating sentence in the world:
“Your labs look normal.”
Which somehow makes everything feel worse. Because if everything looks fine on paper, why does it feel like your body is constantly struggling to keep up?
This is the moment so many women quietly start asking: “Why can’t I get pregnant if everything is normal?” and begin to wonder if there’s something they’re missing that standard testing isn’t catching.
What Your Body Is Actually Doing (And Why This Matters for Hormone Metabolism)
Here’s the part that doesn’t get explained nearly enough, and it’s one of the core things I address as a functional health practitioner.
Your body cannot prioritize long-term repair, including hormone balance, hormone metabolism, and fertility, when it’s focused on short-term survival. Even when labs are technically “normal.”
Chronic stress, inflammation, under-fueling, over-exercising, or bouncing from protocol to protocol all send the same signal to the nervous system: we are not safe to slow down.
So instead of building, restoring, or regulating, the body adapts. It conserves. It compensates. It reroutes resources.
That’s not dysfunction, it’s intelligence.
But when we mistake that adaptation for failure, we push harder. We add more. We optimize. And that’s often exactly where things stall.
Why “More” Keeps You Stuck
This is where I see so many well-intentioned women get stuck, chasing optimization before their body has enough consistency to support it.
Stability doesn’t look impressive from the outside. But internally, it’s the foundation everything else is built on.
As a natural fertility coach, stability is one of the very first things I assess. It looks like:
- Regular meals that support steady blood sugar, not spikes and crashes
- Gentle, consistent routines rather than constant protocol changes
- Nervous system support before stressing detox pathways
- Giving the body space to trust that today won’t be another emergency
When stability is missing, even the “right” protocol can feel wrong, not because it’s bad, but because the body doesn’t have the capacity to respond to it yet.
What a Holistic Fertility Coach Knows That Labs Can’t Show
This pattern comes up especially often for women dealing with unexplained fertility struggles. Not because their body is broken. Not because they aren’t trying hard enough.
But because conception requires excess capacity. It requires enough safety, energy, and hormonal consistency for the body to say: “We have room for this.”
When the nervous system is overloaded or hormones are constantly being pushed and pulled, the body often chooses preservation over reproduction, even when cycles are technically happening.
That’s why focusing only on ovulation, timing, or standard lab work can miss the bigger picture.
Fertility isn’t just about function.
It’s about readiness.
The Real Turning Point in a Fertility Coaching Program
The turning point isn’t finding the perfect supplement stack. It’s realizing that your body doesn’t need to be forced, it needs to be supported in the right order.
When stability comes first, hormones regulate more easily. Symptoms stop bouncing around. The body becomes more predictable. Healing starts to feel less like a fight.
And from there, targeted protocols, including hormone metabolism support, detox work, and fertility-specific interventions, actually work better, because the foundation is finally there.
You’re Not Behind. You’re Just Starting in the Wrong Place.
If this feels familiar, you’re not failing. This is exactly why, in my work as a holistic fertility coach and functional health practitioner, I focus on foundations before anything aggressive or trendy. My job is to help you understand whether your body is actually ready for deeper work, rather than guessing or pushing through and wondering why nothing sticks.
If you’re trying to conceive, managing hormone symptoms, or you just feel like your body hasn’t fully settled in a long time, you’re not broken.
You’re just being asked to start in a different place.
If you want help understanding whether your body is ready for detox, hormone support, or fertility-focused work, I have a free checklist that walks through the exact signs I look for first, the same foundations I use in every fertility coaching program I run. You can find it here.
